Firth Tournament Champions

Dillon pinning his opponent from Challis. Challis is always a hard team and a win here is huge for the team. Dillon is JV normally. Dan Blaisdell is varsity. Dan was .4 pounds overweight so he had to bump up to 112. So Dan gave up alot of weight considering he weighs 103.4 pounds. Dan ended up taking 3rd at 112. This is also huge for the team. So since Dan was fat Dillon got to wrestle varsity. He proved he was up to the task. Dillon received the 2nd place medal in the overall tournament.

Paden also had some weight drama. Paden wrestles 145 lbs and on any given day can weigh from 139-147. He can't weight over 145 until the middle of January then everyone receives a 2 pound allowance for growth. Paden was overweight 2 years ago for this tournament so he is careful to not pig out to much during Christmas break. The night before the tournament Paden weighed 139 ish. RJ our 140 pounder was overweight so the plan was to

Paden and RJ. The morning of the tourney Paden weighed 141. So that booted RJ cause Paden has the 145 Varsity position on the team and RJ would have had to eliminate Paden earlier in the week. Well RJ ran on the bus the entire way to Firth and got his weight down. So all was well. Paden took 3rd in the overall tourney. Malad won First Place as a Team, Challis was Second, Firth third, and Aberdeen 4th. On our team all but three metaled and only one was left out of the medal round. It is gonna be a great season!

Christmas Day

Christmas is very fun at our house. I am sure that all got what their hearts desired. I am so thankful for our Savior and I am blessed to have such a neat and wonderful family. "Kids make Christmas," is what Aunt Jean said. We had big plans. The men were gonna shoot guns and Liv and I were gonna play house with a set of twin babies and an easy bake oven. The weather foiled the shooting plans. Aunt Jean invited us out to Granny and Grandpa's for dinner, so we took a salad and made the trek (4 miles on a clear day) out there. It was blizzarding. It was beautiful. Dad, Jake, and Carlean really missed out. We had a great time out at Granny's. The kids built tunnels thru the drifts in the back yard. One drift was just shy of reaching the top of the fence.

Football Banquet

we had a busy night. while the three younger kids and i went to dessert and a book, troy and the older two boys went to the football banquet. the two footballs are what you get for lettering. one for paden and one for dillon. the "m" was earned the freshman year, so instead of getting an "m" every year you get a patch. the bottom and medal on the right are for 2nd place at district, one for paden and one for dillon. the big one on the top is for paden. it is "scout defensive mvp". he told me what that means, but it still makes no sense. sorry.

Malad Invitational

one of the best parts of the invitational is keeping boys. the one time per year our kids get a sleep over! last year we had 15. this year we only had 6. dinner anyone?

team photo. 1st place undefeated record 7-0 at the invitational. season 2-0.
paden 2nd behind preston mccullock (represented here by his brother. he headed home early to take the act.) mccullock is the state champion and has been 3 years in a row. 145 pounds is new to paden and he stomped it. click on rankings (click on 2A) to see the site where the boys will be ranked state wide. i think it comes out on tuesday but i am not sure.
dillon took third behind firth and malad's dan blaisdell. dillon wrestled where a 103 spot was open. that was with aberdeen. their team did not place. coach peck from aberdeen wants dillon to live there. :) so what happens when a team has to many in a weight is, they lend their extras to the teams that have holes in their line-up. the match is automatically forfeited to the opponent and then they wrestle anyway, giving the kids varsity match experience. so in the individuals the kids are recognized at the top three spots in the weight class, the top two get a medal (so close) and then the team placings. most tournaments are this way. it is good. if dillon can be lucky enough to wrestle for aberdeen at the other tournaments he will have been coached by our coach and the aberdeen coach (he can wrestle for any team that has a hole but the aberdeen coach is really good). they both sit in the same corner. the teams give wrestling moves names and the names are unique to each team. aberdeen doesn't do the same things, so dillon needs our coach (our coaches are the best). the aberdeen coach is a good guy. they are in our district. it is sad and exciting to see them weak! when state gets here the top two finishers in each weight in the district go to state giving dillon a sweet spot. our whole district was at the invitational, and dillon and dan, both malad, are the only ones on the stand. firth is in another district.

part of the team.

birthday party

i know you can't tell by this pic but dillon is excited about his gift. wyatt also had a great birthday. dillon was ordained a priest and wyatt a deacon on sunday. wow! three of our boys in young mens now.

what happened??!!

ok so troy and i went to poky on saturday and we left with barley and came home to see two dogs. well apparently, the bus picked up a passenger at the bus garage and hauled him to the high school. the wrestling team booted him off the bus and went to their match. when they got back, the pup was still there so my boys hauled him home. if you know anyone that wants a very cute puppy of unknown origin please let me know. all the begging, pleading, bribing, and crying has not convinced me to let them keep him. so lex and alma--here is the dog you have been wanting. wedding presents can't be refused. can they? :)

oh christmas tree

this is our christmas tree i cut down. i think it is perfect. the kids had a great time stinging popcorn and decorating.
this is emmett's tree
this one is liv's tree
this one belongs to dillon
the last is wyatt's. paden didn't seem to want a tree.

the next generation

dillon, tru, and cheyenne were the only kids not there. amanda was there but not in the pic for some reason. devin is on his mission-but he is an adult anyway :)

tubbs christmas party 11-29-2008

more pics. sorry if you are sick of looking. we just had so much fun that when i look at these pics i have to include them.

this is the heavy hitter on the pinata. he was of course last and the next pic is the reason why. :) In the third pic it is hagen talking to his folks and it looks intense! they also learned that he wanted a nintendo ds (like emmett) for christmas. also congrats to lincoln, heather and hagen on the announcement of their new arrival coming in june!

these other pics were just to cute to pass up.

some other photos

i love these ones of granny and grandpa!

tubbs christmas party 11-29-2008

the tubbs' family christmas party was a hoot. for me there was no worrying about where the kids were and what they were doing beause the gym in the church is large enough to house us all! paden sitting on santa's knee and mrs. santa giving suggestions! paden gets embarrassed very easily!

dillon had just gone on a campout and the adult driving home stressed him out and he got sick. i wish i had known it was not
the flu at the time maybe he could have worked thru it. oh well. we missed him though.

wyatt always has a long list of what he wants and most of it includes some sort of hunting, fishing, of skull collecting parafenalia. i can't remember what he asked for, but the list now is quite detailed.

emmett has asked for the same thing for a year. x box and a nintendo ds. that is all. santa told him maybe he would get one of the three....

olivia just loved mrs.claus last year at the ward parties and dessert and a book. she followed her everywhere! mrs. santa remembered and brought liv a special present. (i think mrs. santa was excited to have the spotlight for once, since santa hogs it all the time.)

Imagination

when i see the imagination and personality
of my kids, that is some of the best times
for me as a parent. emmett built this car
for his spider man out of knex.

this is a picture of "steve" occasionally he visits our household. he is very entertaining, however, rarely does he know when it is time to leave!

Circulating Trophy

emmett made invitations for all of us inviting us to his karate tournament. we all thought he was going to showcase his moves. then we found out he wanted us to actually participate in a karate tournament. the first picture is emmett giving instruction to dillon and paden and boy was he ever precise. they had to do it just so. (he is the only one to
ever have formal training. he then
told us there would be a trophy
awarded to the winner. let the games
begin. we had to take the flag (in
this competition a dishrag on your
hip) away from your opponent.
best out of three wins. post continues below...

This was a fun evening and dillon won. the trophy is the golden ram and now dillon has to decide what the next tournament will involve. we had a great time. wyatt was at the play with grandma and jacob so he missed out.
