things i love

so today i wanted to list the things i love. why am i feeling this way? because i have a headache and every time i have a headache i start to feel sorry for myself. automatically i start to think that i have a brain tumor. i have known 2 people in my life that died very suddenly from this very thing, one just a couple of weeks ago. with this in mind i started to chastise myself and told myself to think of thinks more positively. this is typically a trait of mine with one exception-my health. i don't really know why cause i think i am relatively healthy all things considered. i do know however that i will die from either colon cancer or a brain tumor. so here it goes:

i love....

All Better

so i forgot that i am trying to blog more. i missed a major event in liv's life. her first stitches. well here is a pic of her recovering thumb. said thumb lost a battle with a tomato paste can on february 1st. oh boy the house was in an uproar, and not only the daughter but also a couple of the sons were freaking out! ha! it was actually kinda funny. troy was making dinner, liv wanted to help so she started pressing on the can lid and troy walked in just in time to see her place her thumb on the edge of the lid (we have all done it). to make it really cool, i cut my thumb (same hand when i was twelve) on a can and received my first stitches that way as well. so he grabbed her and put her thumb under the cold water. the boys came yelling downstairs to get me (which was unnecessary cause i could here the girl) and i came up to see a huge gash all the way across the pad of said thumb. i wrapped it in a towel and went to brigham for stitches (troy came too). we had to call the grandmas on the way, lots of tears, red and swollen eyes and face, and sobs. when we got there she looked at me and said "can you tell i been crying?" ha! on the way to the exam room the lab guy passed us in the hall at the dr. and said "wow looks like fun." and liv said "i don't think it's funny please" and he tucked his tail and went back to the lab. the injection was a great time, recommended to all parents to live thru. once it was numb she was an old hand. she did well and received 4 stitches (i would have done 5). the boys called 5 times while we were in the dr. and they made her get well cards. show and tell was great that week. we took the stitches out a week later. now the skin is just peeling away and it is healing great.

emmett's guinea pig whistles when we walk by. we got her a ball, but she can't quite figure out how to run in it yet. she is spoiled and now won't eat her food unless given no other choice. she loves lettuce, grapes, carrots, asparagus, and fingers.

i have grounded the chill'un from the chihuahua. i have decided that all roads to potty training hell lead to chill'un and their lack of understanding a routine. no matter how much i tell them to leave that dog alone (their dad is telling them too) they don't. so now they are banned. i am the only caregiver and it is working out nicely. training is actually you know-training. how can one train a dog, when it never walks? she is really a good, smart dog, with lots of personality. i will let the kids play with her after the training is complete.

i forgot i had a horse on sunday. poor clancy. he lived thru it.

i got the crisis center taxes done. yippie! more time for me now. i finished "to kill a mocking bird". we moved to an all cash budget. we blew the budget at the crisis center valentine gala dinner and auction when troy bought me a sweet pair of earings, but that is ok. :) i really like the e-meals.com menu. my family likes it too.

well i guess i will sign off for tonight. the olympics are exhausting me. i stay up to watch and then have to get up the next morning. the men's figure skating program is on tonight and they all look pretty trendy (or scary) however you wanna put it.

Hello Again

well, it's been almost a week. here i am again. i know you probably can't believe it. life is great and busy. i made it thru the w2's and 1099's for work. i am almost thru the 990 for the crisis center. i just finished our personal taxes. of course we have to pay idaho so we will wait to file until 4/15. :) we will file the federal and utah here in the next couple of days cause we will get a refund there.

the financial peace university class is going great. it has been all cushy this last couple of weeks as far as homework. this week is a bear. we have to do our budget. then see if we can stick to it. we have our emergency fund tho. we are way excited about that. why do i need to take a stupid class when i know what i am suppose to be doing? well, whatever the reason, it's having the desired effect and that would be the point i guess.

this week i made tomatillo salsa. i also made some yummy dinners. i am finding a new joy in cooking my hubby dinner. why is that? i cleaned off the desk in the den. weird. i know where stuff is. that's even more weird.

my utility bill averages $83 a month. thanks to my wood burning stove. i will have a new appreciation for that now. others are paying upwards of $400 for electric heat. that was a good call. there will be only happy adventures getting wood this year. they were always happy adventures, only now i will have a new perspective.

i am still in the middle of "to kill a mocking bird". i have never read it. i am liking it. i am having a hard time getting thru it cause, when i sit down to read i get sleepy. i am suppose to be crocheting an afghan for the crisis center fundraiser auction. i don't think it's going to get done. bummer. maybe for next year.

the new year's goals are going great. since carlean helped me with my kitchen (we reorganized the entire thing) it has been easier to keep it cleaned. also, i have lowered the boom on the children who live here. i have started to expect way more. it just takes me to remember to not do it all and have the energy to tell them i expect more. it is moving along nicely. we are going to put the commission plan into schedule this week. troy and i have put together the commission bearing jobs in addition to the non-commission bearing jobs. i am excited about that too.

my horse is doing well. fat and way lazy. i was told i should ride him during the winter. this would be great except it is cold and cold and cold outside. i am putting money away for horse schooling. he will go to school in the spring and someone will work on his feet (he is naughty) and break him in. i haven't been on since about october so he will be a snot.

troy is healing nicely. he has the go to start running on a treadmill in march. he can run outside when the ice is gone.

paden is working full time now at kents in tremonton. he is also hoping to be a census worker and work at hess lumber setting up their new store. both of those positions are temporary. he will quit kents in april and go back to rexburg. he is job hunting there now so if he finds something he will have a job to go to when he goes back. he is also back living at home.

i have been getting postcards in the mail from walt. i love it. i have started sending them back. if you want a pick me up, start sending him postcards. it's so fun.
